The Black Business Council leadership comprises of a President, two Vice- Presidents (Professionals and Organised Business), Secretary General, Treasurer General and a Head of Policy. This is a team of competent and experienced business people and professionals that have expertise in different sectors of the economy.
Tilson Manyoni is an Entrepreneur, Board Member and Business professional who is currently the Managing Director and founder of VisionWave (Pty) Ltd and Director of Milestone-SA (Pty) Ltd.
A seasoned council member of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and member of the Executive Management Council (EXCO), he also leads the Planning and Resource committee (PRC) as a chairperson while serving on the Information Technology committee. Tilson is a founding board member of the newly established University’s private holding company - TUT Enterprise (Pty) Ltd.
In terms of his role as former convener (Chair) for the Black Business Council (BBC) Corporate chapter where he served on the BBC EXCO representing corporate members, Tilson also served on the following Sub - committees of BBC: Infrastructure, Economic transformation (part of the BBC Team that participated in the drafting of Black Industrialist Policy); the dti Broad –Based Ownership Scheme technical task team set by Minister Rob Davis that made the final recommendations to the Minister on the broad based ownership scores; and chaired the task team that wrote the proposal on the role of black entrepreneurs in broad based ownership scheme black empowerment transactions.
Tilson initiated and chairs the Black Business Council (BBC) and Department of Science and Technology (DST) Task Team intending to create opportunities for black owned companies in the Science and Technology field, some of the fields covered by the Task team includes: Advanced Manufacturing, Health, CT, Electronics, Fuel cell technology, Big Data, Waste and Water management. He is currently working with DST to establish South African European Enterprise Node (EEN). Serve on the South African Innovation Summit advisory board and Tilson has over 15 years of practical experience in the field of Business Consulting, Manufacturing, and Technology with excellent knowledge of both Public and Private sector as a Black entrepreneur. He is a former member of Black IT Forum, Black Management Forum, Institute of Directors (IOD) and EO (Global Entrepreneurship Organisation).
Tilson holds two Masters (MSc.) namely Major Programme Management (Mega-Projects ) from Saïd Business School - University of Oxford (United Kingdom) and Project Management (Information Technology) from University of Southern Queensland (Australia); Bachelor of Technology in Industrial Engineering and Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from University of Johannesburg (South Africa).
