The Black Business Council leadership comprises of a President, two Vice- Presidents (Professionals and Organised Business), Secretary General, Treasurer General and a Head of Policy. This is a team of competent and experienced business people and professionals that have expertise in different sectors of the economy.
Nkuli Bogopa is a Soweto born, dynamic, hard-working, perfectionist with amazing vision and leadership skills.
Nkuli is registered as a Professional Architect with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession, a profession that has come in handy in building a solid reputation and track record in her 15 years in Architecture and the property sector. She has an infectious passion for work and is result-driven. Over the years she has handled a wide spectrum of portfolios as a Development Manager in the social housing sector, Senior Facilities Manger ranging from financial sector, public sector, Petro-chemical companies, Retail, Commercial and Mining. She is the President of the South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners (SAIBPP), an organisation that is at the centre of driving transformation and an inclusive real estate sector. She also serves as a Director at the Property Sector Charter Council, which is the highest decision-making body of the real estate sector in South Africa and makes key policy decisions to create an enabling environment to create inclusive economies and an enabling environment for all. Her current role as the Executive Director in the office of the CEO and Board member at Broll, which is the biggest real estate services company across Africa, through their affiliation with CBRE provides a great platform for her to add value on a much broader scale in the private sector as well.
Her appointment as Group Property Manager at Rio Tinto in 2011 opened a whole new world with invaluable global experience for her. The deadlines were tight and budgets unyielding. Her Project Management skills culminated in an innovative building with African flair and creative use of space, the home of Rio Tinto in South Africa. The building was featured in the “Architect” publication in 2013 showcasing the effective design of the Architecture, Interior Design and space planning of the building. This is one of the highlights of her career, as it marries all the skills she has acquired from her years of experience in the sector. This role in particular allowed her to take a blue chip company through the entire lifecycle from site selection, acquisition, design & construction, lease disposals, staff consolidation, facilities management and letting.
She is most proud of her role as the President of SAIBPP, which has an impact on the landscape of the property sector and ownership patterns. Her leadership has led to a number of highlights, ie. the growth of the organization through individual and corporate members, which growth was over 110% in her first term of office, the successful launch of a Student Chapter, financial sustainability and revenue growth, a national career week and partnership with the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) in the USA, which will allow SA professionals to get international accreditation, to name but a few.
